The Colossus of Rhodes is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was a huge statue depicting the god Apollo. It was erected by Harry, the Lindian student of Lysippos in the 3rd century BC. The Statue of Liberty in New York was about the same size as the Colossus of Rhodes, although it rested on a higher base. The face of the statue is said to have been distinguished from the entrance of the port of Rhodes.
