Eye necklace

In Greece and Turkey, amulets that have the ability to protect the eye, have the form of blue eyes.

Belief in the "evil eye" is more prevalent in the Middle East, West and East Africa, Central / South Asia, but also in Europe, especially in the Mediterranean countries. References to the Basque Country can be found in the Koran as well as in Hebrew scriptures (Talmud, Tanak).

In the Aegean region, as well as in other areas where there are not many people with light-colored eyes, it is considered that light-colored eyes can "look" more easily. This belief may be rooted in the fact that people from societies where belief in the Basque Country was not widespread (such as in Northern Europe) may not have observed some local customs such as not looking closely at eyes unknown.
